Lookie, we made a shirt!

We were lucky enough to have our friend and vegan artist Kenn TwoFour of Auxiliary Design create a special tee shirt for us. Check out how tough it is! Here are our buddies Tony & Jill showing off the new shirt design, and their strong modeling skills.

In other Atlanta vegan artist related news, we have a couple of new Lunch Totes from Becky at Glue & Glitter. See how cute?

Documentary "Seeing Through The Fence"

We just found out about a screening of the new documentary "Seeing Through The Fence" happening next Tuesday, February 26th at 11:11 Teahouse (8:00 PM). 11:11 Teahouse is at 753 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta 30307. This looks really good, so do try to make it!

Here's what The Independent Weekly said about "Seeing Through The Fence":

"Vlachos designed the film, in part, as a visual response to an e-mail from her brother
[who lists] the reasons he likes to eat meat. Vlachos' film is...designed to deconstruct his reasoning...
through a collection of nutrition information, philosophical questions and answers...That conversation
is the main focus of Seeing Through the Fence.
Vlachos, armed with a hand-held camera and a mind full of questions, takes to streets,
dog parks and pig sanctuaries, from Seattle to North Carolina to Greece.
She questions passersby, friends and family about the rights of animals and the role
of meat in their daily lives.
It's in these conversations between family and friends that the film finds its real voice.
Here, Vlachos is less of a streetwise interviewer and more of a patient philosopher."

For more information on the documentary, visit their site here. And check out the trailer below.

Heaven is a Warm Cinnamon Roll, and a Good Book to Read While Eating it.

Dulce Vegan just dropped off a fresh batch of iced cinnamon rolls, still warm from the oven. Have mercy! So stop by the store to say hi, and purchase one of these babies, along with a jumbo peanut butter bar with chocolate chips. Did you know that Dulce Vegan sweetens their peanut butter bars with agave nectar? Cool, huh?

We have a new book title in stock that's perfect for those of us looking to become more involved in animal activism.
Striking at the Roots: A Practical Guide To Animal Activism By Mark Hawthorne. It's pretty inspiring, so do check it out.

Weekend Selection of Dulce Vegan Goodies

Our new batch of baked goods from Dulce Vegan have arrived! This time we have two different cupcake flavors- the amazing Chocolate Dipper, which is a chocolate cupcake topped with vanilla frosting that has been dipped in chocolate. Hoo boy. Also, the light and pretty Vanilla Orange Cupcakes, available in a two-pack.
If a Spice Bread is more your style, we have slices of that as well. Think of a warmly-seasoned loaf with cinnamon, ginger, and allspice. Yum.

We still have a few boxes of Valentine Chocolates left in stock, so don't delay! For the Georgia folks, you might want to consider ordering a Valentine treat from Idalys of Dulce Vegan for your sweetie. Idalys is baking up lots of heart-shaped cakes, chocolate dipped strawberries, and much more. The deadline for these is Feb. 11th, so you still have a few days. Contact Dulce Vegan directly about these.

Go Team Vegan!

We recently had a news crew from CBS 46 come to the store because they wanted to talk about some of our environmentally-friendly offerings. So of course we took it as an opportunity to mention how bad meat consumption is on the environment!
Quite a bit of the conversation was cut out, which I suppose is normal for this kind of thing. But we are still pretty darn happy with the coverage. You can watch the video here, and marvel at how many times Leigh manages to use the word "actually" because of nervousness.
