Fresh Dulce Vegan and Some Confusing Vega Information

First of all, Dulce Vegan baked goods are in the house and selling fast. Blueberry muffins with a hint of lemon, jumbo brownies with walnuts, and chocolate cupcakes with mint frosting dipped in chocolate. Whoo!

Now an update for all of you Vega fanatics. Vega has recently changed the formula of their Meal Replacement Powders. The new formula is higher in fiber, has a smoother taste and mouth feel, and now offers 100% RDI of vitamins and minerals. The new formula is called "Complete Whole Food Health Optimizer", as opposed to the original formula which is "Complete Whole Food Meal Replacement". We do still have a few of the original formula left in stock, but some of the flavors and/or sizes are now available in the upgraded formula only. Now is your last chance to get the original Vega at the original price!
For your convenience (and to hopefully be less confusing), we have both formulas listed on the site, and will continue to do so until our entire stock consists of the upgraded formula.

Confused yet?? Feel free to email us with any questions. info@cosmosveganshoppe.com

Cute Little Lamb!

Our friend and vegan artist Elise Hartmann created a special little lamb design for us, which we promptly had printed on some black women's tees. See how cute? You can check out all of Elise's whimsical (and often vegan-themed) work via her website, here.
Thanks so much, Elise! You're awesome!

New Stuff!

Hot from the kiln, we have some new pottery from Jeanette Zeis of Vegan Dish. You can see them all here. And check out this beautiful platter!

Also brand new, we have vegan shaving products from Hoke2. The Wally Razor hangs right in your shower, the Shave Creams keep your shave close and smooth, and the Triple Blade Refills keep you in a steady supply of fresh blades.

And because there's never enough vegan jerky type of snacks to go around, here's a tasty new one. Terrapathic Mesquite Flavor Soy Bites.

Happy Easter to those of you celebrating today!

Vegan Cheese For Everyone! But No More Easter Candy For You.

After months and months of waiting for Cheezly to become available to other retail stores in the U.S., it's finally happening! We are expecting our first shipment of this tasty cheese alternative from the U.K. to arrive by next Wednesday. Two flavors will be available: Mature White Cheddar Style and Super Melting Mozzarella Style. Hooray for fancy vegan cheese!

And we are very sorry to say that we are out of stock of all Easter-themed candy for the season. No more bunny or egg shaped things will be available until next Easter, but that doesn't mean we don't have other goodies to fill a basket. May we suggest vegan Gummi Bears, Sour Gummi Bears, Peanut Butter Bites, Almond Butter Bites, Lollipops, Truffles, and more.

Local Vegan Events!!

Hey local vegan folk! We have some great customers who are putting together some fun events for us Georgians.

First up we have a big ol' vegan potluck on Sunday, April 6th @ 2:30 PM. This is being organized by our buddy Ashley Nicole. The potluck will be in the picnic area of Candler Park, smack dab in the middle of the best season to live in Atlanta. Hang out, enjoy the weather, and meet other like-minded & local folks: all while sharing super tasty vegan food. Bring a vegan dish and tell your friends. We are told that there will be cupcakes. I'm pretty sure cupcakes are a legal requirement at a vegan potluck, yes? feel free to email Ashley with any questions or to RSVP: dothereggae@gmail.com. Come on, ya'll! Atl represent!

Next up, Will Tuttle will be in Georgia to lecture on his award-winning book, the World Peace Diet.

Will Tuttle, the author of this eloquently written book, challenges our thinking about our relationship to non-human animals with respect, sensitivity, and grace. His understanding of the human psyche is deep. His use of language is divine, and his compassion reaches out and jumps off each and every page. I highly recommend this book, and I dare you to not be moved by its gentle power.
-Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, author and host of Compassionate Cooks

Will and Madeleine Tuttle will be at Unity of Gainesville on Sunday, April 6th for a service, workshop, and a vegan potluck luncheon. The schedule for Sunday is as follows:
9:15 Am & 11:00 AM- Service with Will Tuttle "Opening Your Inner Genius"
12:30-1:30 PM- Potluck for Peace Vegan Luncheon
1:30 PM- Workshop with Will & Madeleine Tuttle "Opening the Intuitive Gate"

Now, Will's lecture on the World Peace Diet will be on Monday, April 7th from 7:00- 8:30 PM. All of this is happening at Unity of Gainesville, 3361 Clark's Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30506

Hot Stuff.

Ya'll know we are all about great vegan cookbooks. So we are excited about Robin Robertson's newest title, Vegan Fire & Spice: 200 Sultry and Savory Global Recipes. Robin was kind enough to let us print a sample recipe in our March newsletter, but we decided to share it with all of you who may not be newsletter subscribers. (You can subscribe here, by the way!)

We even made this really simple dish ourselves in the Cosmo's test kitchen, and it's spicy and wonderful.

Chipotle Corn

The smoky heat of the chipotle plays nicely against the sweetness of the corn.

1 pound frozen corn kernels, thawed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 canned chipotle chile, minced
2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro or parsley
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Cook the corn according to package directions, then drain and return to the pot. Add the oil and chile, stirring to coat. Stir in the cilantro and season to taste with salt and pepper. Transfer to a serving dish.
Serves 4

spicy dinner

As you can see, we had Robin's delicious Chipotle Corn with some Salsa Rolls (recipe courtesy of Celine at Have Cake Will Travel) and Tempeh Wings from the vegan cook zine Don't Eat Off the Sidewalk #1.

We can't wait to try more savory dishes from Vegan Fire & Spice!

Fresh baked goods from Dulce Vegan in the house!

Fresh baked and ready to devour: Dulce Vegan Cinnamon Rolls, Red Velvet Cupcakes, and Peanut Butter Bars. The Peanut Butter Bars are of a different variety this time. They're kinda like chocolate chip blondies with a gooey layer of peanut butter in the middle. Whoa.

Easter Chocolates and Crafty Stuff

Happy Tuesday, dear vegans!

We have some chocolate treats from Sjaak's for your vegan Easter Basket this year, all made with vegan, organic & fair trade dark chocolate. Check them out here.

In our constant quest for artistic vegans making cool stuff, we recently met Bexx of Books By Bexx. She makes these clever little books titled, "Where I Get My Protein", and we think that they are so darn cute. For those of you in or traveling to the Boston area, Bexx also runs a helpful dining and shopping site called Vegan Boston. Go Bexx!

Happy Birthday To Us!

Wow, how time flies. Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe began as a small online store on March 1st, 2005. Three whole years ago! A lot has changed since then, we have had many new products come in, and we've seen some old products go. (Does anybody remember Chocosoy? Protons? Harb Chocolate? And what about the great vegan marshmallow debacle of 2005?) But through it all, we are happy to say that we still love what we do. It's so exciting finding out about new vegan companies that offer goodies, and being able to offer these back to the vegan community. And what a community! There are so many awesome vegan folks we have met over the past three years that are doing great things in the name of animal rights. We are happy to say that many of these people who we have met as customers, vendors, manufacturers, bloggers, authors, etc. have become friends and allies. It's so exciting! We would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe, allowing us to fulfill our dream and give back to the animals.

But enough mushy stuff. Cosmo wants to offer a special birthday discount of 10% off all orders placed this weekend. Just enter the coupon code "cosmo3" (without quotes)to save. For those shopping in the retail store, just come in and tell us "Happy Birthday!" to receive the discount. This offer expires Sunday night at midnight. Moe is excited about the celebration:

And for our local friends, we have a fresh selection of Dulce Vegan baked treats. Double Chocolate Chip Muffins, Lavender Chocolate Chip Scones, and a baker's choice selection of ginger sandwich cookies. Yum!
