Captain Paul Watson, star of the Animal Planet series Whale Wars, a founder of Greenpeace and now head of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, will be speaking at Kennesaw State Univ March 31, 2009 from 07:00PM to 08:00PM at the Social Sciences Building Rm. 1021.

Every year, Paul sails for the Antarctic to harass & interfere with the Japanese whaling fleet, and he saves hundreds of whales by doing this. He has also, for decades, been fighting other whaling operations, the baby seal slaughter off Newfoundland, and other wildlife atrocities.

We just got in our supply of Vegan Easter Treats from Sjaak's Organic Chocolates! Sjaak's offers all kinds of organic, fair trade treats for your Easter baskets, from Chocolate Bunnies, to Caramel Bites and Peanut Butter Bites. Of course a vegan Easter basket wouldn't be complete without a bag of Chocolate Eggs, or some luscious Filled Eggs. We've had our eye on this new title for a while, so we are excited to finally have it in! Vegan Soul Kitchen by Bryant Terry. In VSK, Bryant puts a healthy, vegan spin on some favorites of African-American cuisine. Dig in!

Another title that just arrived: You Won't Believe It's Vegan! by Lacey Sher and Gail Doherty. I'm sure you will believe it's vegan, as we all know that vegan food is awesome. And this title has plenty of simple and tasty recipes for you to win over everyone, vegan or not!

But wait! There's more! You know that new Vegan Mac & Cheese from Leahey Foods that the kids are all crazy over these days? Well, we now have Leahey's newest offering, a Cheese Sauce Mix. This is the same vegan cheese sauce used in the Leahey Mac & Cheese. It's okay to get excited.

People from out of town often seem surprised to find out that Metro Atlanta caters so well to vegans. But those of us here know the deal. Atlanta is awesome for vegans!

Aside from the great variety of veg restaurants and being the headquarters of the only 100% vegan store in the Southeast (ahem), Atlanta is also home to many vegan artists and businesses. I'm sure we don't have to tell you that when you spend your hard earned money with a vegan-owned business, you are directly supporting more vegan options in your city. Plus, isn't it nice to know that cash you spend with a vegan business isn't going to be used for some BK value meal or a pair of shearling boots?

Here's a list of some of our favorite vegan-owned artists and businesses right here in the ATL.

Dulce Vegan Bakery- These ladies are available for all of your baking needs. From birthday cakes to wedding cakes, to cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and more. They even have gluten-free options.

Matthew Miller Photography- Only hire Matt if you want the most awe-inspiring and unique portraits around. Engagements, babies, portfolios, and more. His wedding photography will blow you away, too.

Only You Tattoo- This new shop in Grant Park is co-owned by vegan artist Danielle Distefano, and she mixes her own vegan inks. Danielle's work is quite amazing, so you will be in good hands.

Vessels and Wares- Jeanette Zeis is the artist behind the beautiful vegan pottery we offer. Her work can also be found around town at places like Youngblood Gallery, and Cabbagetown Clay & Glassworks.


Wearwolf Press- Kenn and Ezra offer top notch screenprinting for all of your t-shirt needs. Kenn also delivers quality design work for bands. Shirts, records, posters, and anything else you can think of. Peep his Etsy shop here.

Glue & Glitter- Becky Striepe is a talented vegan eco-crafter that creates adorable pillows, lunch kits, aprons and more. Her goods can be found on her Etsy shop here, as well as some other stores around town. Cosmo's offers a variety of Becky's lunch kits, and you can also find a variety of her goods at Youngblood Gallery.

Tony Price- Tony is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, and is THE guy to go to if you need a company logo, illustration work, or perhaps a pair of amazing custom footwear.

Need another reason to visit Atlanta? We have not one, but two Soul Vegetarian restaurants! Enough said.

“Let Live” is taking place in Portland, Oregon, June 26th-28th, 2009. From the Let Live website:

This conference is for first-timers, experienced activists, and anybody in between who hopes to make a real difference for animals and build a stronger, more effective community and animal liberation movement. This conference is for anybody who wants to live and let live.
