About Us

Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe began on March 1st, 2005, after many late-night brainstorming sessions. Why? Simply put- we love being vegan. We love talking to people about being vegan, we love cooking vegan, eating vegan, sleeping vegan....you get the idea. We were looking for a way to participate in the vegan community, and help folks with their vegan journey. That's how Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe, an online vegan webstore, was born.

Fastforward to June 16, 2007 and Cosmo's opened it's walk-in retail store located in the historic "Old Fourth Ward" close to Inman Park.

Who are we?

We are Ken and Leigh. We're a husband-and-wife team (aka "Team Vegan Love"). Ken likes Liz Lovely Cowgirl Cookies, reading books about the Italian Mafia, hardcore music, history, and quoting movies. Leigh likes "ice cream" sundaes made with Soy Whip topping, zombie movies, art, and sleeping. Working together to make Cosmo's a great shopping experience for everyone pretty much makes us the happiest couple in the world.

Then who the heck is Cosmo?

Cosmo is our eleven year old feline. He doesn't actually own the store, despite the name "Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe". We just adore him, and thought it would be a cute and memorable name. Don't you agree?

Now on to our mission statement:

When you buy from Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe, you can be sure that the items you purchase are 100% vegan. Since we are vegans ourselves, we understand the frustration that can come with pouring over product labels. That's why we do all that for you. But we do much more than read labels. We also contact companies and get their assurance of a vegan product. If a company can't tell us the source of a questionable ingredient, then we will not carry that product, period. No company that tests on animals will ever be carried by Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe. This guarantee includes our nutritional supplements, which we go to great lengths to make sure are free of lanolin, fish, dairy derivatives, etc. We may carry certain products from a company that also offers non-vegan products, but the items from that company we choose to carry will be completely vegan, and never tested on animals.
We also choose to carry products that are of the highest quality. For example, you will never find synthetic vitamin E in our supplements, or artificial sweeteners in our snacks. We also carry a good variety of products with organic ingredients. Our bags, wallets, belts and shoes are not only vegan, but they are also made in countries with fair labor practices.
