Fur Free Friday!

Join GARP for a Fur-Free Friday rally!

When: Friday, November 25, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Where: Perimeter Mall, 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Suite 1360, Atlanta, GA 30346 (intersection of Perimeter Center East and Ashford Dunwoody Rd.)

Posters and leaflets will be provided.

Georgia Animal Rights and Protection will join animal advocates all around the globe to educate holiday shoppers about the cruel fur industry. Every year, the fur industry brutally kills 50 million animals, many of whom are skinned alive. This year we will highlight the barbaric cat and dog fur trade. Join us, and speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Please wear black.

Vegan Pie in the Sky book signing with Isa Chandra Moskowitz!

We have a pretty cool event coming up this month. On Sunday, 10/30/11 at 2:00pm, Isa Chandra Moskowitz will be at the Cosmo’s showroom signing copies her and Terry Hope Romero’s new book Vegan Pie in the Sky!
Pick up the fabulous new cookbook and meet Isa in person! And of course there will be vegan pies for sampling. Isa + Pies = an awesome day at Cosmo’s. We have a Facebook event page set up here, so feel free to RSVP there.

Atlanta Vegan Stuff!

There are some good vegan things happening around Atlanta right now. Vegan bakery Dulce Vegan now has a retail location in Kirkwood, and they are having a special grand opening event Saturday 8/27! Some of the grand opening festivities include a curated art show, which vegan artist & crafter Becky Striepe from Glue & Glitter is a part of. Dulce Vegan is open now, so go grab a fancy vegan sandwich and a treat!

A longtime customer of ours and all-around nice lady named Judith has started a vegan catering company called That’s Vegan?! Cafe to Go. She offers catered lunch specials, as well as sweets by the dozen. Get lunch catered for yourself, or for the entire office. You can also find her almost every Saturday selling her goodies at the Decatur Farmer’s Market from 9am-1pm. Judith generously showered us with samples, so we know her food is great.

And locals don’t forget, the Cosmo’s showroom is open to the public on Saturdays from 12pm-6pm. We may ship vegan goodness all over the world, but we are still here for you, too!

ATL Vegan Drinks!

ATL Vegan Drinks is a new monthly meetup in Atlanta. By bringing together a diverse group of people, we hope to expand and support the local vegan community. It’s also a chance to have fun and make new friends.

This month’s event is being held at Sauced in Inman Park. Chef Ria Pell has created a special vegan menu for the night, and a vegan-friendly drink list will also be provided (including mocktails for the non-drinkers).

MENU:

Krog Tunnel Revenge cocktail: Aquavit, Cabbagetown chai tea, Pineau des Charentes, Edgewood Gardens mint, Fee Brothers orange bitters

“Cheese” plate: cashew “goat cheese,” pimento, red-onion jam, Gala apples, house-made sesame crackers

new stuff and a new addition.

Hey everyone! We have some new products to share with you this month.

Two new book titles are available now from Colleen Patrick-Goudreau. Color Me Vegan is a healthy cookbook to help you eat from all colors in the produce spectrum. The photos in this one are gorgeous, too. Vegan’s Daily Companion is a book of daily inspirations for those looking to live more mindfully and compassionately.

In the “let’s get dinner on the table quick” category, we have two new products from Leahey Foods. Potato Soup Mix and Red Beans & Rice. Tasty, vegan, and fast!

Oh, do we love us some snacks around here. It’s nice to have a healthier snack option to choose from here at the shoppe. The new Cheesy Kale Krackers from Kookie Karma fill our snack craving nicely. These things are seriously addictive, but we will do our best to keep from eating them all so you can have some too.

Mimic Creme has created a new vegan whipped topping that is seriously good. Seriously!! Healthy Top whips up really well, and tastes shockingly like dairy whipped cream. But it’s vegan, soy-free, and gluten-free. Try this stuff!

Easter is coming up on April 24th, and we have plenty of vegan Easter treats headed to the shoppe. Be on the lookout for chocolates and candy for your Easter baskets very soon!

For locals and also those of you traveling to the metro Atlanta area, please be aware that our Marietta showroom hours have changed. We are currently open to the public on Saturdays only from 12pm-6pm. As you may know, Cosmo’s is a two person, husband and wife operation. And we just welcomed our newborn son to the world on 2/20/11, so we are taking a little time off to spend with our little vegan bundle. But please note! We are still shipping orders all the time, thanks to our friend and super-shipper Julie, who is helping us out at the warehouse. We welcome your orders, even while we are out on temporary leave. In fact, we need your orders! Babies are cute, but they sure run up expensive hospital bills So locals, please stop by to do your shopping on Saturdays and for online customers it’s “business as usual”.

ATL: Some local love

Cosmo’s may be an online store, but we still love being a part of the metro Atlanta vegan community. Here are some cool vegan-related things going on lately around town.

There was a Rally Against Animal Abuse at city hall yesterday afternoon, and over 100 activists participated! In “honor” of Ringling Bros Circus being in town this week, there are some other protest opportunities in both Atlanta and Duluth for those of you who can make it. Details:

There’s a new vegan meat company in town called Gutenfleischers. These folks fill weekly orders for delicious handmade vegan deli meats, steaks, flavored TVP, and more! You can sign up for their online weekly ordering menu here.

Our friends at the mighty Dough Bakery have been going strong with their Stealth Sunday breakfasts. Dough Bakery is 100% vegan, and also 100% awesome. Be sure to keep up with the happenings on the Dough Bakery Facebook page, and arrive early for Stealth Sunday events because they sell out of goodies FAST!
